Well, I have discovered I'm definitely a "passionate" somewhat obsessed, maybe fanatical...yard saler. I had a feeling it might be headed in that direction. I'm just so proud of myself for finding these amazing deals that I'm just bursting, and apparently I tell everyone. Friends, even acquaintances make the mistake of commenting on my red heals for example.
"Yep! Aren't they great? I got them at a yard sale for three dollars! And guess how much the original price tag read???!!!"
I know.
But who can not get excited about red heals?
It became apparent that I do this often when I told Malachi how cute he looked in his "Cars" hat.
"Thanks," He tilted his head to accentuate his cuteness, "I got it at a yard sale".
My favorite way to yard sale is on my bike. I park the "burban" at Colters, strap the kids in the bike-cart put my highlighted Mountain Trader page in my back pocket and we're off. Malachi and I both know that yard saleing also means coffee. Which is just another one of the cool things about yard saleing. We need the fuel if we're truly going to be efficient, and speedy treasure hunters, because there is competition. And we have to beat them. (I have learned that there is actually a group of people that are as obsessed as me. They go around in packs, and show up like two hours before the sales have even started. I'm pretty sure this whole thing could be an Olympic sport.)
On one of these particular mornings, we were on our way from a successful venture (10 cents for a cute clothes anyone?) when I asked Malachi what kind of coffee he would like today, chocolate or strawberry.
"Um," He pondered, "I have two shots."
"Two shots?" (He may be a genius, because even perfectly smart adults I know order single shots sometimes)
"Yeah, I have two shot special."
I'll end this post with saying, tommorrow there is a neighborhood yard sale with thirty-three houses. Yep, 33. And again I say, who can not get excited about that? By the way, those red heals?... Eighty dollar price tag. They're leather. Pretty much brand new. Yep, I'm stoked.
